HUGE Letdown! UGH!!!

I am sooooo angry right now!  My husband is tired of hearing me gripe so now all of my friends here get to hear all about my letdown today.

I was driving to the elementary school today to pick up James and I drove by a consignment shop that had stuff outside.  I frequent this shop looking for things [a dresser in particular] but always leave empty handed simply because I think they are a little pricey.  There was a sign outside today that said $10 EVERYTHING OUTSIDE!  Wow...if there was only something that I wanted and was in decent shape then that would be good for me.  THERE IT WAS!!!!  The perfect dresser for Parker's new room!  I couldn't stop since James was getting out of school so I picked him up and drove back about four minutes later.

So I got out and looked at it and fell in love!  I have been looking for a dresser for his room for quite some time but all the ones that I come across aren't real wood and if they are then they are in no shape to be refinished and probably should just be trashed.  This one was in awesome shape and I just knew what it was going to look like when I was done with it.  I was SO EXCITED to have my first piece of furniture to refinish.  I was so excited to come home and and take a pic and show all of you here.

Since I had the kids in the car, I didn't have room to put the seats down so I told her I would be back in 10 minutes.  She proceeded to tell me all about what she planned to do with it and how wonderful of a piece it was.  I even told her it was going to go in my son's room.  So left and was back in 10 minutes - TOPS!

A friend of mine took me up there since she had a van and didn't have her seats in it from her short vacay this past weekend.  PERFECT!  We got there and I was like "Oh, she must have taken it inside so that no one else came by and wanted it."  So I went inside and looked aroudn while she was talking to another customer and there was no dresser in sight, at least not the one that was $10 and the perfect one that I WANTED!!

When she was done with the customer I asked her if she got rid of it and she looked at me like she didn't know what to say.  She was like are you serious?  Uh, YEAH!  She said, "I thought you already came back by to get it.  Do you have a sister that looks like you?"  WHAT?!?!?!  UGH!!!!!  I wanted to cuss this lady out at this point because I was so disappointed and MAD.  But being the nice person that I am I was like, oh it's okay.  She proceeded to tell me that the lady told her that she was going to use it for her shoes, yada yada yada.  HELLO!!!  Wouldn't that have been your first clue that it wasn't ME!!  I was using it to put in my son's room!!  I TOLD YOU THAT!!!  She told me she even helped her put it in her blazer and how she SWORE it was me :(

She told me she was sorry and that she has never had that happen before!  I had $10 in the car and I should have given it to her when I was there the first time.  MAYBE then she would have kept it for me....I don't know.  I'm just soooo angry and disappointed right now becuase it was perfect and I already knew what I was going to do with it.

It makes me never want to buy anything from this store again!  Could anyone seriously be that dumb to not know who I was when I was back in 10 minutes....maybe so.  I guess I shoudl give her the benefit of the doubt...maybe it was an innocent mistake.  Nonetheless it doesn't make me feel any better!

I hate it when stuff like that happens. The closest I can relate to you of late is last week when I tried on the perfect pair of pants. I was already spending more than I'm allowed right now so I had to put them back. However, those pants are still haunting me a week later. I guess the moral of the story is that God has better things planned for that money we were going to spend. I find that when stuff like this happens, he often shows me that it wasn't the right time to buy it anyway. I know that doesn't help but I feel your pain!

The owner/clerk in the consignment shop was wrong, Beth. She was in it for the SALE...not the customer. If you have been in her shop before...then shame on her. When you went back, she knew she was wrong. Word of mouth is the best form of advertisment and something like this happening too often will cause her to go out of business. You live in a small town and things like this happening travels quickly. I'm sorry you didn't the dresser...shame on her!!!
