I SPY – Jelly Beans!

It’s a tradition in our family for the Easter Bunny to hide jelly beans around the house.  My mom started it when I was a little girl and I have done it ever since.  My hubby thought I was nuts the first year I did it when he was around.

The kids LOVE it though!

Unfortunately, at 11:00 at night, the pics aren’t the best.

On top of the gumball machine!  I’m sure Parker will be the first to find these!  Ever since I filled it with gumballs, that’s the first stop he makes in the morning.  And if you’re wondering if I give him one as soon as he wakes up?  Maybe…depends on my mood!

This is on the shelf above the gumball machine by the front door.  I knew there was a reason I hadn’t put candles back in the votive holders.

These are in the corner of my photo frames.

I’m wondering how many of these will be in the same spot when we wake up?  The cat may get a little curious tonight….

These are sure to be found.  They’re on each bar stool…

I must say, I LOVE this tradition that my mother started no matter how “silly” my hubby thinks it is.  Hopefully it will be something that is done with my grandchildren someday :)

What are some of your traditions?

Easter Egg Hunt

What’s Easter without an Easter Egg Hunt for the kids…

 DSC08525

It always surprises me how MUCH shorter I am than my hubby.  WOW!

DSC08512

All of the little ones under three got to go first.  Parker did a really good job.  I really thought his nervousness around people would have kept him from getting any but it didn’t.  I don’t even think he noticed anything but the eggs on the ground.

DSC08515 DSC08516 DSC08521

This one…I couldn’t keep up with in order to get a good pick!  Obviously the older they get…they dart for the eggs!

  DSC08526  DSC08530 DSC08531 DSC08532

It didn’t take long for them to find a spot and dig in to all the goodies!

Once again, Alysia didn’t get in any shots but one :(

Happy Easter to all of you!  I hope you are having a wonderful weekend and and an even better Easter Sunday!

Brown Sack Easter Nest

I saw this nest in the Country Living magazine and thought I would try my hand at it.
Supplies needed:
Bowl the size that you want your nest
Brown paper sack
Saran wrap
Mod Podge
Scissors
DSC08495
Cut your brown paper bag into thin strips and of varying lengths.  It doesn’t have to be perfect.
 DSC08498
Put some Mod Podge in a bowl and throw the paper strips in and toss until they are coated thoroughly.  {It’s gonna be messy!}
DSC08499
Wrap your upside down bowl in plastic wrap and start laying the strips around it to form a base.
 DSC08503
At this point I was being very neat and realized it wasn’t going to be messy like a bird’s next.
DSC08504
After you get the base it all covered, take the remaining paper strips and jump glop then on the base.  Spread around until it looks messy and let it sit to dry for 12 hours.

Then, my friend, is a wonderful bird’s nest!
 DSC08509
Fill it with some Easter grass and some pretty eggs and your all set!

I LOVE THE WAY IT TURNED OUT!
This would be a project that the kids would love helping with!

Random GOOD Stuff

I sure you know The Pioneer Woman.  If you don’t, you really are missing out.  You should go check out her blog!

She also has a “new to me” cookbook.  I think it’s been out for close to a year now but I just got mine in the mail today!!

The recipes in it look AMAZING!  And just like her blog, there is a photo of every step.  Makes it so much more fun to do the cooking, I think!!

And it talks about her life on the ranch.

It really is a must read!

You should get it!

Do you know what these are?

 DSC08487

Before I met my hubby, I had no clue.

MOREL MUSHROOMS!

Let me start by saying I have never liked mushrooms.  Something about eating a fungus I guess.  And the fact that it’s a texture thing.  I think button mushrooms are slimy.  EWWWW….

Anyways, these are WONDERFUL mushrooms!!  Seriously!  My seven year old that doesn’t eat anything, loves them!

You can only hunt them this time of the year and they are very hard to find.  If you find a spot that has them, KEEP IT A SECRET!  They’re that much of a rarity, obviously.

Last week, my hubby found a small bunch.  Enough to whet our appetite for future ones.  He’s out hunting for more as we speak.  Hopefully, we’ll have some ready for dinner!

Mmmmmm……

 DSC08491

This of course is just too cute to keep to myself.  It was lunch time and Parker lined his trains up on the barstools and said “BITE”!  They were all obviously ready for some food!

Too cute!

“Hammer Time”

When you have boys, all they want to do is play with tools.  Parker’s favorite at the moment…

A HAMMER!

 DSC08307

LOVE the tongue!

DSC08309 DSC08313 DSC08315 DSC08319 DSC08320 DSC08323

Time for the BIG hammer now…

DSC08327

Well looky here!  James decided to come home from his friends’ house to play with us.  The neighbors are usually soooo much “cooler” than us.

DSC08331 DSC08332

Big Daddy even came out to play!  It’s a happy day!!

DSC08337

LOOK MOMMA!  I found something else….

DSC08340 DSC08345

LOVE this pic soooo much!

DSC08354

Weird!  Parker is mad at James?!  He always is…

See all that dirt?  It’s gonna be my garden.  I’m hoping to get some plants bought and planted tomorrow.  That’ll be another post in and of itself.
