Am I Really Ready for This?!?

Today was the day!  I did it!  I've decided and changed my mind, decided, changed my mind, over and over again.
Poor little Parker has a broken binky now.  A small slit in the top makes them completely unusable.  Before naptime this morning, I just did it.  No second thinking, no comtemplating, just did it.

Now he's crying and looking at me to fix it.  I had to lie him down and leave the room.  He's crying.  I'm really sad....I want him to have comfort and this was it.  He has a pillow...but he still wants his binky.  :(

UPDATE:  He lived with his broken binky all day long.  It probably wasn't a good thing but I did giive him a real one when he went to bed tonight.  The poor thing was just so fussy all day and that was all he wanted.  He went to bed so quickly and is sleeping very peaceful right now.  Now I don't know whether I should just take them away during the day and only let him have them at night or what...Maybe it's just not time yet?

This is for sure going to be hard!  Thanks for all of the encouragement!!

I went through the same thing with Mason. He had to have one in his mouth and one in each hand at ALL TIMES!! I ended up slowly cutting the tip of the binky until it was down to nothing. It was NOT easy! Hang in there! You'll be so proud of yourself later.

Bailey was a binky baby...which, I did just that, cut the tip off gradually until there was nothing.

Caleb is our 'blanky' baby...he hates binkys but can't do anything w/o his blanket...

Good luck with it :-)

Layla is 2 1/2 and still has hers. I know I need to take it away but she only uses it at nap time and bed time and I just dont have the strength to get rid of it!!

It is hard. And it does suck...big time. Sometimes I think it would still be easier if Sage still had hers! But when we took them all away...that was it. Now--she just has her blanket that stays (for the most part) in her crib. Sage's teeth will thank me later for pulling the plug!

both of my boys were binkiaholics so I feel for you. I did the same thing with theirs. He WILL be OK....he just doesn't realize it yet.

landen had his ONLY at naptime and bedtime until he was three! Don't worry about it he wont use it forever! I would just give it to him and sleeping times...eaiser on you and him. He will get much needed good rest and so will you! :)
